FAQs

Getting Started

  • Our work begins with a 90-minute intake session, giving us time to get to know each other and for you to share what brings you to therapy. We’ll explore your current situation, concerns, and hopes, and begin identifying which areas you’d like support with. This is also a chance for you to see if you feel comfortable with me and the way I work.

  • Online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many issues. It’s especially helpful if you value flexibility, live in a remote area, or need to fit sessions around a busy schedule. If you're unsure, we can schedule a short introductory call to help you decide.

  • No. Many people start counseling simply because they want support during a challenging time, space to reflect, or tools for personal growth. You don’t need a diagnosis or a specific “problem” to benefit from therapy.

  • It depends on your goals, needs, and life situation. Some clients come for just a few sessions to work on a specific issue. Others prefer longer-term support. We’ll discuss this openly and adjust as needed.

Online Format

  • We meet via encrypted Zoom video calls, at a time that works for you. You’ll receive a secure link in advance. We usually use both audio and video, but you’re welcome to turn off your camera if that feels more comfortable.

  • You only need a stable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone (computer, tablet, or smartphone), and a quiet, private space for the session.

  • If there’s a technical issue, we’ll simply reconnect as soon as possible. If needed, we can continue by phone or reschedule the remaining time.

  • Yes. I use end-to-end encrypted Zoom calls, and your personal information is treated with strict confidentiality. For email communication, I use Infomaniak, a Swiss-based provider known for its strong commitment to data protection and privacy. Infomaniak complies with Swiss and European data protection laws (including GDPR) and uses secure, encrypted servers to safeguard your information.

As a licensed psychotherapist, I am bound by professional confidentiality standards, and I take this responsibility seriously.

Booking and Fees

  • To book a session, please use the contact form to briefly describe what you’re looking for. I’ll get back to you with more information and a link to my booking calendar.

  • Each session is reserved exclusively for you. Therefore, the following cancellation policy applies:

    • Cancellation up to 48 hours before the appointment: no charge

    • Cancellation 24–48 hours before the appointment: 50% of the agreed fee

    • Cancellation less than 24 hours before the appointment or no-show: 100% of the agreed fee

Exceptions may be considered on an individual basis.

  • Sessions must be paid in advance to confirm your booking. After scheduling, you’ll receive an invoice with payment details. Payment can be made by bank transfer. If you have any questions about the process, feel free to reach out.

Communication and Languages

  • I offer therapy in German, Swiss German, and English. You’re welcome to speak in the language you feel most comfortable expressing yourself in — and we can switch between them if that feels natural for you.

  • Yes, you're welcome to turn off your camera if that feels more comfortable for you. That said, being able to see each other often helps create a more natural connection and allows me to better understand your emotional cues — but we can always find what works best for you.

  • My standard format is video sessions, as they offer the closest experience to face-to-face contact. In certain cases, I may also offer asynchronous chat sessions. If you’re unsure what format is right for you, feel free to reach out and we can discuss your needs.

Legal and Location

  • Yes, you can work with me from anywhere in the world.

  • Currently, I offer private, self-paid sessions. In some cases, clients may be reimbursed by private insurance, depending on their policy. Please check directly with your provider.
